Does this sound familiar?

Your child…

  • Struggles to follow along during circle time or storytime

  • Gets frustrated when asked to rhyme or play word games

  • Can’t quite grasp how words are broken down

  • Knows some letters but doesn’t know what to do with them

This group focuses on the a foundational skill that’s critical for reading success using the Orton Gillingham approach. Before a child can sound out words independently, they need to understand that language is made up of sounds and patterns.

Build Confident, Capable Readers—One Step at a Time

Reading starts before letters and books—it starts with how children hear and play with sounds. In this foundational group, we introduce the first steps of the Orton-Gillingham approach, a trusted, research-based method used to teach reading in a structured, multisensory way.

This group is designed for preschoolers and early Kindergarteners who are not yet ready to decode words but need to build the critical auditory and language skills that make reading possible. Through playful games, movement, and interactive storybooks, your child will strengthen their awareness of how sounds work in words—so when it’s time to read, their brain is ready

Learn About Our Pre-Reading Foundations Program

  • Phonological Awareness | Ages 3–6 | 6 Weeks | $250 | weekly 45-minute sessions

This foundational group focuses on broad sound awareness skills that prepare your child for reading. Using engaging activities and stories, your child will strengthen their ability to hear and play with the sounds in language—an essential first step toward becoming a confident reader.

    What Your Child Will Learn:

    • Rhyming words and matching sounds

    • Alliteration (recognizing words that start with the same sound)

    • Breaking sentences into individual words (sentence segmentation)

    • Clapping and counting syllables in words (syllable segmentation)

These skills build the auditory foundation your child needs before learning to connect sounds with letters required for level 2.

  • Phonemic Awareness | Ages 3-6 | 6 Weeks | $250 | weekly 45-minute sessions

Now that your child is tuned into sounds, this level focuses on the individual sounds (phonemes) within words. Through fun, structured activities, your child will practice isolating and manipulating sounds, as well as blending and segmenting simple CVC words.

    What Your Child Will Learn:

    • Isolating initial, final, and medial sounds in words

    • Segmenting CVC (consonant-vowel-consonant) words into individual sounds

    • Blending sounds to read simple CVC words

This stage is key for developing the fine auditory skills needed to link sounds with letters in reading and spelling required for level 3.

  • Consonant Phonics |Ages 3-6 | 8-10 TBD Weeks | $350 | weekly 45-minute sessions

At this level, your child will learn to identify and produce consonant sounds and start applying this knowledge to reading and writing. Using the Orton-Gillingham multisensory approach, your child will strengthen their understanding of consonants and begin decoding simple words confidently.

    What Your Child Will Learn:

    • Recognize and produce individual consonant sounds

    • Apply consonant sounds when reading and spelling

    • Begin decoding simple words using consonant phonics

This final step prepares your child to move into more advanced phonics and reading skills.

What your child will learn

Picture This…..

Your child comes home singing rhyming songs and clapping out syllables—excited to share what they’ve learned and eager to keep practicing.
They’re more engaged and confident at school, less frustrated during reading activities, and starting to understand how language works.

While they may not be reading books just yet, they’re building the essential brain pathways that every strong reader needs—and most importantly, they’re developing a love for learning to read.

This foundation will set them up to step confidently into our Word Reading Program, where they will learn more advanced reading rules.

Got Questions?

  • If your child is still learning to recognize and play with sounds (rhyming, syllables, beginning sounds) and doesn't yet know all their letter-sound pairs, the Pre-Foundational Level is the right place to start. If they already know their letters and sounds confidently and are blending sounds to read words, they may be ready for the Word Reading Program.

  • Not necessarily. Letter recognition is great, but this level focuses on sound awareness before letters—skills like rhyming, alliteration, and syllable segmentation. These are essential to build the brain’s foundation for reading, even if your child already recognizes a few letters.

  • Not quite yet. This level focuses on listening to and playing with sounds in words. While it doesn’t involve reading words or books independently, it lays the essential groundwork for decoding and reading in future levels.

  • Great question! Rhyming is just one of many skills we target. We move quickly into more advanced sound play like segmenting sentences and syllables, which often aren't taught deeply in preschool settings. Even kids who seem confident with rhyming often benefit from revisiting and strengthening these core skills.

  • To ensure long-term reading success, all children must complete Level 1 before entering Level 2. This guarantees that they've been thoroughly exposed to—and can demonstrate understanding of—all foundational phonological skills.

  • Think of this level as “reading readiness training.” Without strong phonological awareness, children often struggle with phonics and decoding. This step wires their brain to hear and understand how language is structured—making the actual reading process much easier and less frustrating later on.
